Senior Sales Associate Elena Barbagelata joined Terra Firma Global Partners’s Marin Office in 2018. Elena was born and raised in real estate, you could say it’s in her blood. Her grandfather sold real estate in San Francisco back in the 1800’s. Her aunt was one of the first female brokers in the county, but it was her father, John Barbagelata, that started Barbagelata and Company Real estate over 65 years ago. The family business was built on the foundation of integrity, hard work, and always putting the client first. Elena started working in real estate at an early age, in fact she worked her first open house when she was only 15. Soon it became evident that real estate was more than just the properties sold, but rather the relationships made.
Besides her interest in the real estate business, she always had a desire to learn new things, get to know more people and experience new cultures. After attending Dominican University and San Diego State, Elena traveled extensively throughout the U.S., visiting over 35 states and explored Europe as well. She lived in Italy for over 3 years where she worked as an English teacher, teaching adults professionals and the Italian Air Force. While in Europe she became fluent in Italian and Spanish. When she returned to the U.S. she continued to work as an ESL teacher and later worked in public relations as an event coordinator, including working on political campaigns. Her experience teaching and working with the public has definitely served her well in her real estate career by giving her the ability to understand people from all walks of life and to communicate clearly with them.
Elena has been a licensed agent since 1996 and has worked in most every aspect of real estate, from residential sales to commercial leases. From bungalows, to buildings, she has owned, bought and sold a multitude of different properties throughout Marin and Sonoma county. She also knows the joys frustrations and challenges that come with purchasing, maintaining and selling those properties. Her years in real estate have taught her that to achieve the goals set forth, you have to be tenacious and aggressive, but always do it with dimplocacy.
Elena has lived in Marin for more than 25 years where she raises her three children, Domenica, Antonio and Lorenzo. Raising a family in Marin has allowed her to get to know a vast amount of people throughout the different communities. Her children attend both private and public schools which gives her insider knowledge on how things work. She is well-versed in all things Marin, from property values, to the school districts, to where to get the best thin crust pizza in town! Elena also gives her time by fundraising and volunteering in the local schools, serving her parish of St. Anselm, and working on the issue of homelessness in the North Bay. When she’s got time you will find her cooking (usually Italian while listening to Dean Martin) exploring California vineyards, hiking a local trail or skiing down a mountain, but her favorite thing to do is hang out with her kids (especially in Disneyland!). Additionally, Elena is a member of the Women’s Council of Realtors.
All her years as a Marin resident, along with her long history in real estate, truly give her an edge. She’s absolutely dedicated to delivering the best experience, that’s why she’s teamed up with Terra Firma Global Partners. Terra Firma and Elena share the same deep-rooted philosophy…work hard to meet and surpass the needs of each client, do it with honesty, integrity and do it with enthusiasm!
